Henson) latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying – and the feeling is mutual – but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre’s feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts “the karate kid” on the floor with ease. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), who is secretly a master of kung fu. As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life.

@MrCapKid : well spoken. There are multiple styles of martial arts and it’s a shame we americans smush everthing together. You have to remember we are dealing with Hollywood: they like it simplified. I do appreciate this movie takes place in a country dominated by Asians but I hate that a lonely American is to be the spotlight of the movie.

ok for those people who are wigging out about the title, the origanal movie was called karate kid and he learned karate in that movie, this is a remake so they cant really change the title just because it isnt politically correct, like for example, they are mking a remake of nightmare on elm street, why the fuck would they change , they wouldnt because ITS A REMAKE. the origanal was the named karate kid so they kinda have to name the remake karate kid
